Pencil in the date for our next Jailbreak Fundraising Event on 30 August 2019 at 09:00 at the Golden Valley Casino, Worcester. Come join us for a day filled with FUN!
BACKGROUND : The Association for the Sensory Disabled [ASD] annually holds a Jailbreak Fundraising Event to manage its two care centres: The day-care centre in Waterloo Street and the Sean Kelly Group Home in Tulbach Street. . [This year will be the fifth year that the event takes place.] The event is co-sponsored by the Golden Valley Casino [who provides the venue and catering] and Capital Security [who provides the transportation and carry out the “arrests”.]
This is a fun event. In a nutshell, it works as follows:
The Association invites companies in the Breede Valley to participate. Once accepted, the company nominates an employee [usually a high-profile person such as the CEO or Chairman of the Board] who will then be “arrested” on the day of the event by Capital Security and taken to “jail” at the Golden Valley Casino where he/she will be expected to phone colleagues / friends / family members to bail him/her out. The bail is set at R3 000 [the same amount as for the previous year]. But, the “prisoner” will be taken good care of by the casino with food and drinks . . . and of course, a telephone to make those important phone calls!
Funds raised during this event will help the Association to care for the disabled children placed in their care. For example: In order to operate effectively, the Sean Kelly Group Home needs about R30 000 per month to operate. We are heavily reliant on the support from our communities to make this possible.
All we ask is for companies to donate some of their time to help us raise funds.
